Digital and Technology

The digital and technology related landscapes are moving at an unprecedented pace as they permeate every industry and society globally. Even third world nations and peoples are leveraging digital technology personally and professionally. Companies are no longer capable to ignoring what has become a digital boom – especially as it relates to the digital tools available to both their employees and their customers. New digital ecosystems are emerging everywhere – e.g. data capture and analytics, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), etc. The digital evolution has birthed new roles for Clients to consider; including Chief Digital Officers, Chief Transformation Officers, Chief Information Security Officers, Chief Cybersecurity Officers, and so on.

But, what really is Digital Transformation and what does it really mean for companies? According to Salesforce.com, digital transformation is “the process of using digital technologies to create new — or modify existing — business processes, culture, and customer experiences to meet changing business and market requirements.” Or, more simply put, it’s the “re-imagining of business in the digital age is digital transformation” and it all “begins and ends with the customer.” Salesforce.com goes on to share that companies are now moving from analog to digital and this mass migration is allowing companies to simplify how they work while adding almost limitless value to every customer interaction. But, while the digital transformation is enabling a whole host of new and dynamic potential possibilities via digital technologies, it’s also brokering an entire new mode of corporate, social, and individual accountability.

This new digital ecosystem has thrust many companies into high-volume, fast-paced recruiting efforts. As Gartner pointed out in 2018, only 4% of the CIOs that they surveyed had deployed artificial intelligence (AI) while 20% of those companies were at least trialing AI and 25% of those companies have AI on their short and/or long term business objectives.
