Do as He Says

Matthew 3:13-17:

Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. John tried to prevent him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and yet you are coming to me?” Jesus said to him in reply, “Allow it now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him. After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened for him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

At the Wedding at Cana, Mary approaches her Son, Jesus, to let them know that the host is out of wine.  Jesus replies to the news with, “Woman, what does this have to do with me?  My hour has not yet come.” (John 2:4)  But, in Truth, Jesus’ hour had come and He, being a Perfect Jew under Mosaic Law, would honor His Mother and she, also being a devout Jew, knew that He would when She “said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’” (John 2:5)  When we, like John the Baptist and the Wedding servants, do what Jesus tells us to, Miracles abound and we get to Witness God Himself.  While there are many things that Jesus is Calling each of us to do in this world, each of us is keenly-aware of something that He’s asking us to do right now.  Exactly now.  No matter the cost of Honoring His request, we are encouraged to “do as He says”.  Maybe it’s speaking-up about an injustice.  Maybe it’s helping someone in need.  Maybe it’s talking (Praying) more with Him.  Maybe it’s giving someone a hug.  Whatever He is “saying” to you, do the “whatever”.  When I worked at the General Electric (GE) Company, we always talked about our “say-do” ratios; meaning, how often we did what we said we’d do.  Having a high “say-do” was critical to our careers at GE.  But, even more so, having a high “say-do” with the Lord (and in life overall) opens-up a World of Infinite possibilities.  And, He Promises to Reward you for your “do”.
