Can You Keep a Secret?

Gospel / Matthew 17:1-9

Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother, John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them; his face shone like the sun and his clothes became white as light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, conversing with him. Then Peter said to Jesus in reply, “Lord, it is good that we are here.
If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud cast a shadow over them, then from the cloud came a voice that said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased;
listen to him.” When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate and were very much afraid. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Rise, and do not be afraid.” And when the disciples raised their eyes, they saw no one else but Jesus alone. As they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, “Do not tell the vision to anyone until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”

Imagine that right now, you had the winning numbers to one of the super lottery jackpots.  Imagine that you had just won.  Imagine you were now technically “rich”.  Now, imagine that the lottery officials told you that you would get your jackpot in two (2) to three (3) years from now if you didn’t tell a Soul about your news!?  Now, imagine you were Peter, John, or James and you just saw the Heavens open-up, Jesus transfigured, Elijah, Moses, and a Cloud with God’s Voice praising His Son and you couldn’t tell a Soul.  Imagine that you had to wait while people mocked and hurt you and your Friends.  Imagine that you still had to wait even when most of the city of Jerusalem had Jesus condemned, scourged, ridiculed, and crucified.  Imagine the horror and anxiety of wanting to jump-in and stop the entire thing based on the Secret that you knew!?  The Good News is that we don’t have to wait.  We can share the “Secret”, because its not really a Secret at all.  We know Jesus and the Grace that comes from following Him.  We know what Agape Love means and we also know how His-story eventually ends.  We know the winners and the losers; it’s called-out in the Bible.  We know the winning lottery numbers.  And, even better than knowing the numbers, we can share the winning numbers with everyone that we meet.  And, better than that, we know that everyone can win God’s Lottery Jackpot.  The winning numbers are simply to believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior and God and to love all others the way that Christ loves us.  We don’t need any complex algorithms to simply accept Jesus into our hearts and to live our lives as close to His example as we can in this world in our Earthly flesh.  There’s a Winner each and every minute and the Blessings are Infinite!!!
