Even An Atheist Can Do It

Lent is a time of reflection around what Jesus did for us on the cross.  At the very core of Lent is His resurrection; which we celebrate on Easter Sunday.  Nobody debates whether or not Jesus and His Disciples existed or that He performed miracles and was crucified for it.  Nobody debates that close to 2 million Christians were martyred by 313 A.D. – most in incredibly vicious ways.  Nobody debates the miracles of our world and the universe or that there was a global earthquake and blood red moon when Christ gave-up His Spirit to God from the cross.  What people tend to debate – and this was a very real issue for the early Church and the Jewish Sadducees and Pharisees – is the resurrection.  We have seen several examples of how powerful it can be for people to come to the truth about His resurrection – especially for atheists.  St. Paul was blinded by Jesus and became one of Jesus’ greatest Disciples.  Lee Strobel, an investigative reporter and author, wrote a number of books about his journey from non-Believer to Believer.  C.S. Lewis is another literary example of a converted atheist who could not ignore the evidence about God’s existence.  “Miracles from Heaven”“Heaven is For Real”, and “90 Minutes in Heaven” are but a few of the more recent examples we see in books, movies, etc.  But, a new example recently impacted all of us in a very deep way.  Please see the amazing interview and story told by Dr. Eben Alexander – a former atheist who was used by God to show others that even when you’re brain is dead and not firing-off images and highlights (as some atheists explain for out of body experiences), you can still experience Heaven.  He was interviewed by ABC News.  The resurrection is very real and it’s imperative that we as Men as Christ (MAC) share that Good News with us many as we can for as long as we can before it’s time for our resurrections.
